Ms. Yijie Han, WMB President
Welcome!
On behalf of all Booster officers, thank you for joining us as we enter a new school year and reaffirm our support for all young musicians and music educators across our district.
Throughout last year’s concerts, we had the pleasure of meeting many community members who expressed their appreciation for the Boosters – not just as parents of current students, but as alumni who were once touched by our work decades ago. One lovely couple, both South High graduates from the ’90s, shared that they still remember the music trips that opened their eyes to experiences beyond Buffalo, opportunities made possible through the support of a caring community. Stories like theirs remind us of the lasting legacy this organization carries, and I feel deeply honored to help continue that tradition.
Each year, May and early June bring close to 50 school concerts—a season filled with celebration and milestones. While we would love to be present at every event to honor our students and connect with families, this is also our greatest challenge. Last year, despite our best efforts, we were only able to cover about two-thirds of the year-end concerts in May. Between flowers and concessions, it was a tremendous undertaking.
To better prepare for this year’s spring concert season, we’re working to build a more stable and coordinated volunteer base well in advance. Whether you’re interested in taking on a lead role or helping out occasionally, we invite you to visit our volunteer page and watch a short video that walks you through our concert concession process.
Thanks to our increased presence at concerts last year, we saw a meaningful boost in funds raised. We’re committed to keeping that momentum going and building deeper engagement with our community. With our newsletter now entering its second year, we’ll continue to highlight student achievements, share important updates, and foster connections across our music programs.
See you at the concerts!
